Q. I save a lot of links to forum messages that may contain pictures. After a period of time, the pictures or the message are no longer there when I click the link
A. Many times forum messages are deleted after a period of time and not archived by the forum. Pictures are not often stored on the forum and can be deleted by the poster. As a result, the link is broken or the pictures are missing.
The way to keep these messages (and any web page) is to save the web page as an .mht file with your browser in the ShopFileR Web pages folder. This saves the entire web page including images in a compact format. ShopFileR will let you treat these .mht files just like you would web links. You can add a category, description, comment, etc. for easy organization and retrieval.
Q. What’s next?
A. Additional features are on the drawing board
More Conversions and Calculator Functions - Additional workshop formulas, conversions, and calculator functions are planned.
A complete calendar and event reminder facility to remind you of appointments, anniversaries, birthdays, etc.
RSS Feeds - The ability to display selected RSS feeds on the Front Page.
Additional printed reports - Print complete reports of your tools, projects, notes, journal entries, etc. Currently, registered users can export their data in XML format to other programs for reformatting and printing.
Q. How about Internet access? Can I access my ShopFileR data across the Internet?
A. We are developing an Internet Web Service module - If you have a broadband (DSL, cable, etc.) connection, this web service module will enable you to securely access your ShopFileR data residing on your home PC remotely from a web browser anywhere. Other than a small one time additional charge for the add on web service module, there are no monthly fees for the remote access capability (other than your normal Internet monthly charges). You don’t even need a domain name or static IP address to securely access your ShopFileR data remotely from your office, a friend or clients PC...or anywhere.
This is currently under development and will be available as an add on module to registered ShopFileR users. Look for a demo link here, coming soon!
